What is Blind PC?
Blind PC is a new piece of accessible software which runs over the top of Windows XP / 7 to provide easy access to commonly used applications such as Media Player, Email, Internet Explorer, Skype and YouTube etc. Blind PC is designed for low to no vision people who have little experience with computers who want to use their PC for entertainment purposes.
What can I do with Blind PC?
Blind PC is currently not available for download but when it launches you'll be able to do the following:
- Play audio, listen to internet radio and manage your own playlists.
- Read, write and manage your email.
- Browse and search YouTube with the ability to save your favourite YouTube videos for future listening.
- Receive and make calls via Skype and manage your skype contacts.
- Browse the internet through an easy 'touch focussed' interface.
- Browse popular websites such as Wikipedia using Blind PC's custom templates which improve a website's accessibility.
More applications and uses will be added closer to launch and as updates come out
When will it be ready?
At this stage the prototype is at a very early stage and it could take between 3-6 months for a version to be ready testing.
What will it cost?
No information on pricing is available just yet but you will need a TouchPad which goes for around $75 to get the most out of Blind PC.
